Regional Supervisor,  South West - United Kingdom and Northern Area

We are currently recruiting for a Regional Supervisor to look after the South West as part of our United Kingdom and Northern Area team. Based within the region this role covers Dorset, Somerset, Devon, Cornwall, the Scilly Isles and the Channel Islands.

The Regional Supervisor's role is multidisciplinary and focused on the management of the regions resources. Managing a regional team of three, as well as external contractors, you will ensure the continued commemoration of war casualties and the effective maintenance of graves and memorials in burial sites in Region and improve standards where possible.
 This will include inspecting CWGC sites within the region, compiling plans and follow ups as necessary and managing the Skilled Maintenance Craftsman's work programme for Head Stone cleaning. You will also undertake Horticultural inspections and manage the organisation, planning and control of the horticultural works. You will need to lead and motivate a diverse team as the Commission head towards its 100th year and provide coaching, support and guidance to the teams on all matters, including appraisals, performance management and recruitment.

You will need extensive previous work experience in team leadership and people management, along with experience of managing contractors, suppliers and third party stakeholders. With a good level of computer literacy you will be persuasive, diplomatic and able to communicate to all levels.

Experience in managing cyclical maintenance programs would be an advantage, particularly from a Horticultural, Maintenance, Surveying or Facilities environment. You must be based within this region and also have the ability to travel extensively in the region as required. A full manual driving licence is also essential.

GC1 Mobile Gardener Kent mobile group United Kingdom and Northern Area

We are currently recruiting for a unique opportunity to join our horticulture team in the South East Region.

The United Kingdom and Northern Area (UKNA) commemorates 310,000 casualties, in over 13,000 locations throughout the UK, Republic of Ireland, Gibraltar, Scandinavia,Iceland and the Faroe Islands. Of these 134,456 are on ten major memorials located throughout the UK.

We are currently recruiting for a GC1 mobile Gardener to be based in Gillingham Kent, and working in a small mobile team who cover a number of sites in Kent and Sussex.

This role will carry out manual horticultural maintenance and renovation work to the standards of excellence as set by the Commission, and according to the Horticultural Manual.

The GC1 is responsible for specific plots within their region. In addition the GC1 will also carry out various administrative duties relative to his level of responsibility and assist the Regional Supervisor or Head Gardener in the management of the group.

You will need NVQ Level 2 or an equivalent level qualification in Amenity Horticulture and a full manual car driving licence. Candidates with relevant experience will also be considered. This is a mobile role and will require travel across the region and occasional overnight stays within the Area.

The GC1 is responsible for specific plots within their region. In addition the GC1 will also carry out various administrative duties relative to his level of responsibility and assist the Regional Supervisor or Head Gardener in the management of the group.
