      The War Dead of the United Kingdom

      The total number of war dead of the United Kingdom and her colonies in the two world wars is 1,271,955. The countries in which the largest number of UK war dead are commemorated are France (580,423), the United Kingdom (283,247) and Belgium (211,258).  In the United Kingdom, the Commission is responsible for graves and memorials at 13,000 sites.
