Visiting Information

Sandwick Cemetery is on the A866 Sandwick Road.
If travelling by car: From the centre of Stornoway follow signs to the Airport following the A866 Sandwick Road. Go past the council buildings , the cemetery is on the right hand side of the road overlooking the sea. The entrance to the cemetery is opposite a large white church on left hand side of the road.
From the airport leave airport building turn right on to the A866 Sandwick Road towards the Town Centre. The cemetery is half a mile on left hand side of the road opposite a large white church.
By taxi from the Airport or the centre of Stornoway it is a short five minute journey.

Historical Information

There are 36 Commonwealth burials of the 1914-18 war, including 9 unidentified sailors of the Royal Navy. There are 24 more burials of the 1939-45 war. In addition there are 2 non-war Service burials here.
