Location Information

Beira Christian Cemetery (the Cemetery of Santa Izabel) is located 1 kilometre north of the railway station on Avenue Samora Marcher, close to the large 'Shoprite' shopping complex.

From the main cemetery entrance, follow the central path past the chapel to the next intersection of paths and turn right. Plot 9 is on the left, and four of the Commonwealth graves are located in the central part of this plot, about 5 metres in from the path. Plot 3 is on the right of the path and one grave is in the nearest row backing on to the path, about 50 metres in from the intersection. Returning to the central path, follow this to the next intersection and again turn right. Plot 10 is on the left and two Commonwealth graves, one behind the other, are about 30 metres in from the intersection.

Beira Christian Cemetery is open every day between 06:00 and 18:00. The location or design of this site, makes wheelchair access impossible.

Beira was founded by the Mozambique Company in 1891. There are 6 Commonwealth burials of the 1914-1918 war.
