Find Soldiers From Other Commonwealth Countries

The individuals in our database are assigned to the units and regiments that they served with, under the British and Allied forces that they formed part of.

If you would like to find individuals from other Commonwealth countries, you can do this in two ways:

A search using the 'Additional Information field'. This can be located by clicking on 'Find War Dead' on the Home page and scrolling to the bottom of the search form. This field records information provided to the Commission by the next of kin of the individuals we commemorate, and where present can include information concerning their place of birth or where they lived. For example, conducting a search with 'Jamaica' in this field will return over 800 individuals. Please note that this figure may include individuals connected with the country Jamaica, but also individuals who lived at, for example, 'Jamaica Road, London'.

Search using the 'Regiment' field to find individuals who served with regiments associated with particular countries or regions. This is located by clicking on 'Find War Dead' on the Home page and scrolling down to the 'Regiment' box on the search form. Whilst individuals may have served in a variety of regiments and services, there are certain military units which have an association with a particular country or region. For example, those seeking information on individuals from the Caribbean could enter the text 'British West Indies Regiment' in the 'Regiment' search box, which would return 1300 individuals who served with that regiment and who are commemorated by the Commission.
