FRANCE - THIEPVAL MEMORIAL

RESTORATION OF THIEPVAL MEMORIAL BEGINS - RESTRICTED ACCESS FROM 1 JUNE TO 10 JULY 2015

From 1 June to 10 July 2015 public access to the Thiepval Memorial will be restricted while the Commonwealth War Graves Commission (CWGC) begins work on this historically important monument.

 

TURKEY - LONE PINE CEMETERY

30/06/2015

Construction of grandstands for 4000 seats will commence on the 5th July in preparation for the commemorative event on the 6th August. immediately after the event and will take approximately 2-3 weeks. During this time the cemetery will be accessible but visitors should be aware that this construction will be taking place and it will have an effect on their visit. Visitors should avoid entering any of the areas where construction is taking place and respect the health & safety warning signs.

TURKEY - CHUNUK BAIR NEW ZEALAND MEMORIAL

Construction of grandstands for 4000 seats will commence at the beginning of July in preparation for the commemorative event on the 8th August. The stands will be removed by the end of August.

GREECE - SARIGOL MILITARY CEMETERY

A pedestal renovation project is currently underway and is due to be completed on the 15th September 2015. From the end of June until the beginning of August the pedestals and markers will be removed as part of the renovations process.

 

 

GREECE - SUDA BAY WAR CEMETERY

Major renovation of the turf and shrubbery will begin in this site from July 15th into October. Visitor access to the cemetery will not be possible on the following dates: Wednesday 1st July, Tuesday 4th August and Wednesday 2nd September.

Access will be possible throughout all other dates during the renovations, however visitors are advised that there may be some disruption in certain areas.

ITALY - CAVALLETTO BRITISH CEMETERY

Major renovations works on the cemetery boundary wall will be carried out from the 15th June until the end of July. Visitors are advised that access may be difficult at times, and to access the cemetery on foot.

BELGIUM - BRANDHOEK NEW MILITARY CEMETERY

Major road works are currently being carried out in the street where the cemetery is situated.  Visitor access may be difficult at times, visitors will be able to access the cemetery on foot.  From the car park at Brandhoek Military Cemetery it is a short walk to the cemetery. Work is scheduled to be completed by the end of July 2015.

BELGIUM - BRANDHOEK NEW MILITARY CEMETERY NO.3

Major road works are currently being carried out in the street where the cemetery is situated.  It might at times be very difficult to get to the site, visitors may only be able to access the cemetery on foot.  The nearest car park is at Brandhoek Military Cemetery from where you can walk to the cemetery.  Work is scheduled to be completed by the end of July 2015.

BELGIUM - SCHOONSELHOF CEMETERY

Please note that major renovation works are taking place at this cemetery. Over 700 headstones are being replaced and a further 800 will be realigned. The works are starting in plot 5 and will then continue with plots 4, 3 and 2 to finish with plot 1. Please be aware that during the works it might be difficult to access certain graves. We expect the works to be finished by the end of June 2015. The horticulture in this cemetery will be restored by November 2015.
