BELGIUM - SCHOONSELHOF CEMETERY

03/06/2015

Please note that major renovation works are taking place at this cemetery. Over 700 headstones are being replaced and a further 800 will be realigned. The works are starting in plot 5 and will then continue with plots 4, 3 and 2 to finish with plot 1. Please be aware that during the works it might be difficult to access certain graves. We expect the works to be finished by the end of June 2015. The horticulture in this cemetery will be restored by November 2015. FRANCE - SUZANNE MILITARY CEMETERY NO.3

Essential maintenance on the Cross of Sacrifice will be carried out for 8 weeks. Access for the public to the above site may be restricted from time to time during the demolition of the old Cross and the installation of the new Cross.

ITALY - ROME WAR CEMETERY

Headstone renovations at this cemetery will commence on the 4th May and will continue until mid-late August. The renovations will be completed in stages by plot which will involve the removal and re-levelling of headstones. Visitors will be able to access the cemetery during this time and are advised to contact the CWGC Area office if planning to visit a particular grave. E-mail maoffice@cwgc.org.

UNITED KINGDOM - PEMBROKE MILITARY CEMETERY

Access to the cemetery has changed due to current road works. If you are travelling by car, the directions are as follows: 1) Vehicles coming from the direction of St Paul’s bay have no difficulties as the road going up to St Julian’s or St Andrews is closed and the only entry is through Triq Adrian Dingli where the cemetery is located. 2) Vehicles coming from the direction of St Julian’s or St Andrews cannot enter from the right hand side of Triq Adrian Dingli as the road for the time being (until the road works are finished) is one way. Keep on going down and turn right to enter from the old road entrance of the White rocks complex.

BERGEN (MOLLENDAL) CHURCH CEMETERY

Major horticultural renovations are now underway at Bergen (Mollendal) Church Cemetery. Whilst visitors will be able to access the plot within the cemetery, the area will not be to the usual CWGC standard until the renovations are completed at the end of August. All the planting and soil from the borders will be removed and the area regularly sprayed with herbicide to eradicate ground elder and couch grass. Replacement turf will be laid in July and the borders replanted in late August. The work on the plot is being carried out on behalf of the CWGC by Gravplassmyndigheten i Bergen, the local cemetery authority, and we are extremely grateful for their assistance in this work.

MORLEY (ST. MARY IN THE WOOD) CONGREGATIONAL CHAPELYARD

The church within the chapelyard has been severely damaged by fire and demolition has been planned. The memorial to casualty CW FOSTER, a 6' Granite Column, is well away from the damaged church however, access is denied and the site is closed to the public.
