Berlin South-Western Cemetery
23 August 2013
From 22 August to 5 September 2013 the Commonwealth War Graves
Commission will carry out a major renovation of First World War
graves at Berlin South-Western Cemetery near Stahnsdorf.
A team of 18 craftsmen, including stonemasons from the
Commission's Works Department in Belgium, will carry out a range of
structural maintenance work over the period - including installing
256 new headstones.
Following the structural renovation, the cemetery will undergo a
complete horticultural renovation with re-levelling, sowing new
grass and replanting of headstone borders. The work should be
finished in November 2013.
