Commenting on Mr Fallon's appointment, Brian Davidson MBE, the CWGC Director-General, said:

"On behalf of the Commonwealth War Graves Commission, I would like to welcome the Rt Hon Michael Fallon MP as the new Chairman of the Commission.  We look forward to working closely with him at this very busy time and as we move forward into the key centenary period.

The Commission would also like to take the opportunity to thank the Rt Hon Philip Hammond MP for his invaluable contribution to the Commission's work over the last three years".
