Canadian FM visits Massicault War Cemetery

Canadian Foreign Affairs Minister John Baird, visited Massicault
War Cemetery, Tunisia,and laid a wreath in honour of the Canadian
soldiers commemorated there.
The war in North Africa came to an end in Tunisia, in May
1943, with the defeat of the Axis powers by a combined Allied
force.
Many of those buried at Massicault War Cemetery died in the
preparation for the final drive to Tunis in April 1943 and in that
advance at the beginning of May.
In total, 65 Canadians lost their lives in Tunisia during the
Second World War.
