New French President at Ranville War Cemetery

The newly-elected President of France, Francois Hollande, has
attended a commemoration ceremony at Ranville War Cemetery in Normandy, to mark the
68th anniversary of D-Day.
President Hollande laid a wreath and shook hands with a veteran
of the 6th Airborne Division, who landed by glider and parachute
and captured the village of Ranville early on June 6th,
1944.
Many of the division's casualties are buried in Ranville War
Cemetery, which contains 2,235 Commonwealth burials of the Second
World War, 97 of them unidentified. There are also 330 German
graves.
