The
Yokohama War Cemetery in Japan has been hit by heavy
snow, resulting in some damage to trees.
Kengo Kobayashi, CWGC Manager at the Cemetery, said there
had been several inches of snow. As a result, this
has caused some damage to trees located within the
cemetery.
Once the snow has melted the cemetery will be inspected and a
plan to repair the damage will be drawn up.
Kengo and his team will ensure all damaged branches are removed
and the cemetery is returned to its usual immaculate state.
Yokohama War Cemetery is the only CWGC cemetery in Japan,
and contains the graves of Commonwealth servicemen and women who
died in Japan as POWs during World War II or who died of illness or
accident while serving with the British Commonwealth Occupation
Force in the post war period.
