Thought-provoking

Please take time to read this! It really made us think, here at the Commonwealth War Graves Commission.

Not another ‘effing cemetery

Please read these too (these also appear in the pre-trip exercises in 'Planning a tour').

Letters of complaint

We get quite a few letters like this sent to the Commission, and we’d like your help to promote mutual understanding between generations, so that everyone has the experience they hoped for when visiting a war cemetery.

The very last thing we want to do is to deter school parties!

We don’t want young visitors to feel that they must wander round in silence with heads bowed…

but at the same time, we’d like to be able to reassure the people who are sufficiently upset to write to us that we are doing all that we can to make sure that their time in quiet reflection will not be unduly disturbed by the behaviour of others.

Part of that task is to make sure their expectations of behaviour are not unrealistic, and part of the task is to enlist your support.

A future too horrible
