The Somme 141 Days - "The Front"
The Somme Offensive lasted for 141 days, from 1 July to 18 November. Throughout the period of the Somme centenary, there will be a number of different events taking place to commemorate the different actions, and to remember the contributions, of the many people who took part.
The Commonwealth War Graves Commission (CWGC) is sourcing details of ceremonies to be held in our cemeteries and at our memorials across the battlefield. The objective is to promote public attendance at these events, where we have agreement from the event organiser, and to reduce potential duplication of events by liaising with the organisers.
In partnership with the UK Department of Culture, Media and Sport, the CWGC is playing an active role in supporting these events, a selection of which are listed here.

In addition to the Somme 141 Days - "The Front" events taking place at CWGC sites across the Battlefield, there is also the Somme 141 Days - Thiepval. This is a daily event taking place at the CWGC's Thiepval Memorial and will be organised by The Royal British Legion. Details of how to participate may be found in our Event FAQs.
