The Ypres Salient - CWGC

Men of the Royal West Kents,front line trench near Ypres, April 1915This attack was commanded by Brigadier-General Wanless O'Gowan (GOC 13th Brigade) who had troops additional to his own command allocated to him for the operation: the right of the attack comprised units of the 27th Division (2nd Duke of Cornwall's Light Infantry and two companies of the Royal Scots). The centre of the attack (under Colonel Geddes) comprised three battalions of 83rd Brigade, 28th Division (2nd East Yorks, 1st York and Lancaster and 1/5th King's Own (Royal Lancaster). The left front of the attack comprised 13th Brigade (2nd King's Own Scottish Borderers, 1st Royal West Kents, 2nd King's Own Yorkshire Light Infantry and 9th London (Queen Victoria Rifles).
