The Ypres Salient - CWGC

Four men of  the 4th Coldstream Guards perched on a wrecked gun outside a German concrete blockhouseGeneral Sir Herbert Plumer's Second Army attacking formations comprised from right to left (south to north) as follows: X Corps (5th and 7th Divisions) provided the extreme southern flank support by moving against Polderhoek Chateau and Reutel respectively; I Anzac Corps (1st Australian Division to make a raid on Celtic Wood, 2nd Australian Division to advance towards the Keiberg spur and offer flank support to the 66th Division on its immediate left); II Anzac Corps (66th and 49th Divisions - who were tasked with the main thrust against the Passchendaele Ridge). 66th (2nd East Lancashire) Division (a virtually untried formation) and 49th (West Riding) Division had been transferred from British Fourth Army on the coast for this attack.
