Location Information

The cemetery, which is owned by the municipality, is situated in Robert Mugabe Street next to the intersection with Lazarett Street, and the Cross of Sacrifice is on the opposite side of the street. Due to a proposed road widening scheme, all the Commission headstones in the cemetery were moved to the Cross site for alternate commemoration and they, together with two alternatively commemorated 1914/18 burials from Berseba Cemetery and four alternatively commemorated 1939/45 burials in an abandoned Windhoek cemetery are grouped in two semi circular rows around the Cross with an expanatory stone in the middle.

History Information

Windhoek, the capital, was surrendered on 13 May 1915. Six of the graves were brought in from Otjusandou, Otjihongwe, Regenstein, Duobib and Rehoboth station.
