History Information

This memorial commemorates 36 members of the Australian Forces who were cremated, but for whom normal commemoration in a cemetery or crematorium is not possible. The names are inscribed on a bronze panel beneath an appropriate inscription. This reads:- 1939-1945 THE SERVICEMEN WHO ARE HONOURED HERE DIED IN QUEENSLAND. THEIR REMAINS WERE CREMATED AND THE ASHES SCATTERED OR BURIED WHERE FULL COMMEMORATION COULD NOT BE GIVEN.
