This crematorium is within the grounds of the Fawkner Memorial Park Cemetery, which is on Hume Highway 8 miles from Melbourne G.P.O. There are direct train services from Flinders Street station to the cemetery, which contains nearly 150 war graves.
During the 1939-1945 War this last rite of cremation was accorded to servicemen and women when desired. In this crematorium are the ashes of 23 soldiers, 4 airmen and 1 naval officer belonging to the Australian forces who were cremated and are commemorated here.
