Air Raid Warden; of 37 Lime Grove, Hainault. Son of Elizabeth Miles; husband of Constance Miles. Injured 21 September 1940, at Lime Grove; died at King George Hospital.

Citation

Volunteer Miles was on duty when he was informed of iminent danger of a nearby bomb exploding. He left his shelter to warn others he knew to be in the danger area. He had succeeded in warning several of them when the bomb exploded, inflicting upon him fatal injuries, he refused medical help and continued to direct his A.R.P. workers to deal with a fire caused by a gas leak.
