Neuve-Chapelle Memorial commemorates the Indian soldiers and labourers who lost their lives on the Western Front during the First World War.
The village of Neuve Chapelle is some 5 kilometres north of La Bassee and 20 kilometres west-south-west of Lille. The Memorial is 800 metres south-west of the village on the east side of the road from La Bassee to Estaires.

The memorial bears the names of more than 54,000 soldiers who died before 16 August 1917. The memorial is one of the most well-known war memorials in the world.
The cemetery contains the graves of nearly 400 servicemen of the First World War, many of which were members of the South African Native Labour Corps (SANLC).
Built in 1951, there are more than 1,020 British Empire casualties from the Second World War buried or commemorated here, together with a number of war graves of other nationalities.
