The Free Czechoslovak Air Force Association would like to invite family, friends and enthusiasts to join them to remember the Czech and Slovak Veterans of the Second World War.

Brookwood Military Cemetery

The association will be joined by representatives from the Czech and Slovak Embassies and The Major of Woking and his wife, to lay wreaths at the monument and to inter ashes of those who have departed this year. Refreshments after underneath the RAF arches. They welcome children and ask you to bring photos and memorabilia so they can share your family stories and help keep their memory alive.

HRH The Princess Royal and Sir Tim Laurence, Vice Chairman of the CWGC, visited the Commission’s plot at Zeebrugge Churchyard on Saturday, as part of a visit to Belgium to mark the centenary of the Zeebrugge Raid.

A rededication service was held at CWGC Menin Road South Military Cemetery in Belgium, on Saturday for Private Cecil Henry Burns and Driver Henry Martin Comerford, both of the Australian Imperial Force.

Monday 23 April will mark 100 years since the Zeebrugge Raid. One of the most celebrated episodes of the First World War at sea, the Royal Navy attempted to block the Belgian port and prevent the German navy from using it. More than 200 sailors and marines were killed and over 300 wounded. The dead are commemorated by the CWGC at sites in the UK and in Belgium, including Zeebrugge Churchyard which will be visited by Her Royal Highness The Princess Royal over the weekend.
