Vis-en-Artois Memorial

This memorial service is to remember and pay respects to Lt Col Webb VC and men who were masonic members killed in WW1. Lt Col Webb survived the war and is buried in London. There will be a short parade with march outside the cemetery followed by a memorial service inside the Memorial with the Hant’s & IOW Army cadet Force band playing.

Dieppe Canadian War Cemetery

The Town of Dieppe is organizing two ceremonies at Dieppe Canadian War Cemetery to commemorate the 76th Anniversary of Operation Jubilee.

Volunteer Firefighters from Wonthaggi Fire Brigade, Victoria, Australia, will travel to France to pay their respects to a former Wonthaggi Fireman who was killed in action near the town of Albert in 1916. A commemorative service will be held including wreath laying at the grave of Cpl John Sparks AIF with volunteer firemen in full dress uniform and other dignitaries in attendance.

Berlin 1939-1945 War Cemetery

Wreath laying ceremony to pay respects to fallen Czech and Slovak airmen and those of the British Airforce buried in Berlin 39-45 War Cemetery.

Cornish miners from Dolcoath mine in Cornwall joined the 25th Field Ambulance in 1914. They were stationed at Estaires and early in 1915 played three rugby matches there (between Cornwall and Devon men) after a local club sent out a ball. 100 years on, the great great grandson of one of these men is in Camborne Youth Band and has his bugle. He and the band will play at the graveside of Thomas Penhorwood, one of the Cornish rugby players who was killed at Aubers Ridge.

Merchant Navy Day Commemorative Service and Reunion

The parade will start at 12.30pm in Muscovy Street and proceed through Trinity Square Gardens to the Merchant Navy Memorial where the annual open-air service will be held.

Considered as its "spiritual birthplace", Saint-Omer is taking part in the RAF Centenary celebrations. 20 September has been chosen as the Memorial Day, exactly 100 years after the departure of Squadron 41 from Bruyères airfield.
