The Commonwealth War Graves Foundation is working in collaboration with Oxford University to create a digital archive of the First World War artefacts stored in bedrooms and attics across the UK. Funded by the Heritage Lottery Fund we will be staging events across the UK, encouraging people to bring along their family heir looms to be included in the project.

About the Project

The Lest We Forget team will be supporting collection days around the country for members of the public to bring their First World War objects and stories. Our team of experts and volunteers will record their stories and tell them more about their objects, creating a digital record in our archive. We aim to preserve these memories of the Great War for future generations by including them in our freely available, public online archive.

Our archive became publicly accessible on the 11th of November 2018. Click here to explore the stories we’ve collected of the First World War so far. Be sure to visit our website regularly as there are always new items being added! If you’ve got a story you’d like to be included, come along to a Collection Day or Roadshow near you (see below for full list of events), or you can click here to upload your story on your own phone or computer via our online submission site.
