Introducing War Graves Week

War Graves Week - A week to remember

We are proud to bring you our first ever War Graves Week.

Running from the 21-28 May 2021, war graves week will shine a light on our work and the people who keep remembrance of our war dead alive.

Through a series of talks, tours and events, both physical and virtual, War Graves Week will bring an immersive and inclusive programme that will reveal CWGC’s work and history in all its variety and demonstrate its ongoing relevance today.

The week will include:

  • Nationwide events across Great Britain
  • Online talks and tours
  • Interactive activities for youth groups
  • Can’t attend an event? Join us online in our upcoming digital festival

Something for all ages and more.

Our War Graves Week events

We're holding events at our sites all week - find out where, when and how you can book your spot on our guided tours.

What's happening near you?

Get ready for War Graves Week with our Flower Growing contest

In the build up to War Graves Week, we want you to remember those who died in the world wars by creating your own wildflower memorial.

We will send you free packets of wildflower seeds that you can plant in your own garden or in plant pots. If you plant them when they arrive, you’ll have your own patch of wildflowers which will grow from May to October. Share a photo of your bloom on Twitter and Instagram to enter our contest and win a prize.

You can apply for these seeds at no cost, but we’d love for you to donate to the work of the Commonwealth War Graves Foundation. Your donation will help us to engage and educate people about our work.

Owing to overwhelming interest, we have stopped taking orders for our War Graves Week wildflower seeds.

Show us your progress and win a prize

If you have green fingers, you're in with a chance to win £200 in garden centre vouchers.

To enter our competition, share a picture of your wildflowers with us on Twitter or Instagram using #WarGravesWeek. Our horticultural experts will then choose the best in bloom.

When your flowers bloom be sure to visit our website to share your progress and check out the competition.

Read Terms and Conditions.

This project is also supported by Hayter, who are stocking our seed packets at stores nationwide.

If you choose to donate, the Commonwealth War Graves Foundation (Registered in England, Charity Registration number 1171947) will receive 95% of text donations. If you would prefer to donate on our webpage 1.4% of your donation plus a fixed fee of 0.20p will be deducted by our administration partners.
