Many Cornish lives were lost as a result of the Blitz over Plymouth. Find out more about these casualties and how the CWGC commemorate them.
A number of Cornish men and women lost their lives as a result of enemy action over Plymouth.
The worst impact was felt in April 1941, when15 civilians from in and around Saltash were killed.
In this online talk, Rebecca Smith, South West Public Engagement Coordinator for the Commonwealth War Graves Commission (CWGC), will give a presentation on how the CWGC commemorate civilian casualties such as these. She will also tell the story of some of those who lost their lives during the Blitz., including 65 serving men from the Royal Navy and Royal Engineers who were killed at HMS Raleigh when their air raid shelter received a direct hit.
