Join us for Walking our War Graves: The Western Front – register now!

Take part in a walking fundraising challenge with a difference. Between 13 September and 13 October, the virtual 125km route will take you on an interactive journey along the Western Front.

Walking our War Graves

Starting at the Thiepval Memorial to the Missing in France, cover the distance along the battlefields and CWGC cemeteries and memorials on the Western Front, including the Arras Memorial, Neuve Chapelle, and the Ploegsteert Memorial, along to Tyne Cot, and finishing at the iconic Menin Gate in Ieper.

Cover the distance in any way you like, and from anywhere in the world. Create a team with your family and friends, or track your journey as an individual on your early morning dog walk, whilst out and about at the weekend, or on your daily run.

Create your own personal fundraising page, and plot your progress on your interactive map and as you reach the key cemetery and memorial milestones along the way, we will send you an email congratulating you and telling the history of the site and the incredible story of a casualty commemorated there.

Challenge yourself to raise £100, or as much as you can, and help us keep the stories alive of those men and women who died whilst fighting in the two World Wars. Personalise your fundraising page with your own information and images, and share to encourage your family and friends to support you on your virtual journey.

John Grain, Executive Director of the CWGF, said:

‘Our first-ever virtual fundraising challenge, ‘Walking our War Graves: The Western Front,’ is a fantastic way to show your support and raise awareness of the Commonwealth War Graves Foundation. We hope this virtual walk will inspire you to take on a new challenge, to try something new, and make an impact. Whether you get a team together or take part by yourself, by getting involved and fundraising for the CWGF you will help us to engage more people with the work of the CWGC, and to create education activities which tell the stories of the fallen Commonwealth servicemen and women, and of how the CWGC now, as then, continues to honour their sacrifice.’
