Cecil James Gasson was born in Alton in Hampshire on the 12th January 1897. His parents were George Gasson and Sarah Annie Leavey.

In the 1911 census the family are living at the Estate Works at Tylney Hall in Rotherwick, Hampshire where George was working as a carpenter. Cecil was a Scout with the 1st Odiham Troop.

On the 26th November 1914 there was internal explosion on board "HMS Bulwark" whilst anchored off Sheerness with the loss of 788 men and only a few survivors.

Cecil Gasson is remembered on a memorial to those lost at the Dockyard Church in Sheerness which was erected in 1921.

He is also remembered on the war memorial in the church at Rotherwick in Hampshire.
