Thomas Homewood was a member of the K Division of the Metropolitan Police tug-of-war team that won the bronze medal outright after their scheduled opponents Sweden scratched.
Thomas lost his life in the closing stages of World War II when his Stratford home was hit during a V2 rocket attack on London. The accident also claimed the life of his wife Matilda, son Victor (aged 25), and daughters Beatrice (23) and Ellen (15).
