
Malta: War Diary: 14 April 1942: Round the Clock bombing - One Raid lasts 13½ hours.
“ENEMY FIGHTERS ATTACK AIRCRAFT AS THEY LAND."
“Early in the afternoon a Special Beaufort aircraft landing at Malta after operations in the Middle East was attacked on the ground by Messerschmitt fighters. The pilot was killed and the crew injured."
“Three more Beaufort aircraft of 39 Squadron heading in to Malta from ops in the Middle East were shot down in the sea south of the Island, as well as two others lost during the same operation. Other Beauforts later landed successfully under the protection of Spitfires and Hurricanes. Six airmen were reported killed."
“A Maryland aircraft returning from shadowing operations with ME 203 Squadron has been reported missing. The aircraft left Barrani at 0700 hrs this morning and should have landed in Malta at 1315 hrs. However, nothing has since been heard of the Maryland, either from the Middle East or Malta. The last message from the aircraft was received at 0945 hrs GMT.”

“BEVERIDGE,- In action recently in the Middle East, Fl. Lieut. Robert Graham Webster Beveridge, R.A.F.V.R., eldest and only surviving son of Mr and Mrs J. G. Beveridge, 44 Camphill Road, Broughty Ferry.”

“WAR CASUALTIES"
“Less than a year after the death on service of their younger son Mr and Mrs J. G. Beveridge, 44 Camphill Road, Broughty Ferry, have been informed that their eldest and only surviving son, Flight Lieutenant Robert Graham Webster Beveridge, has been killed in action in the Middle East."
“A former pupil of Perth Academy and Dundee High School, he was an apprentice chartered accountant with Messrs Henderson & Loggie, Dundee."
“He was a keen sportsman at school, and occasionally turned out for the F.P.s."
“He and his brother were both members of the R.A.F. Volunteer Reserve, and were called up at the outbreak of war. Lieutenant Beveridge was posted to the Middle East last September."
“His brother Sgt.-Pilot Alan Beveridge, was killed while returning from an operational flight last July.”
