Joan Norah ‘Norah’ Lewis Corporal Norah Lewis WAAF was a member of the Women’s Voluntary Service (WVS) before she volunteered to join the WAAF.

She was murdered aged 27 by by William James Croft 16 October 1943, in what was later described as a suicide pact gone wrong.

Joan is buried & Commemorated by CWGC Newton Nottage, (St John the Baptist) Church.
