Merchant seaman John Parkinson. Grave ref D289 died 13 May 1941 aged 49.

John was born in 1892, and in 1939 was living on his own in Liverpool at 38 Sandbeck Street where he worked for a railway company (the LMS) as part of a crew operating a barge on the Mersey. His wife lived in Primrose Street Lancaster with their young son Robert (b 1933). 

John was killed 13 May 1941 at Stalbridge dock Garston Liverpool as a result of the barge hitting an aerial mine. 5 of the 11 man crew died.

The Barge was built in 1924 and was just known as “F”
