On the evening of 9 May 1941 the NAAFI Building at RAF Waddington was bombed during a Luftwaffe raid on the airfield.

The NAAFI building was on the technical side of the base, close to the large aircraft hangars and runway, almost central among the service single living accommodation or barrack blocks.

7 NAAFI Staff were killed during the air raid, the Manageress Mrs Constance Raven, along with six other women.

The damage was repaired, and after the war, the NAAFI was renamed ‘The Raven’s Club’ in memorial of that night.
