'An Allenheads Boy...'
Memorial at Allenheads (copyright author)

William Vickers came from Allenheads in Northumberland once a large populated area filled mainly with Lead Ore Miners and smelters. His father, Robert Vickers, was unusually a joiner but his mother Mary Ann Philipson came from a long line of miners. The family can now be traced back to the same Parish for almost 400 years.

His death along with those of William Pearson, Gilbert Graham and George Sparke would have been acutely felt within this very tight knit community. In fact they would all have been distantly related.

William's cause of death was recorded as TB and I am just sorry that I have no other information to offer with regards to this brave soul...
