Wierden, a town on the Almelo-Zwolle road, is 5 kilometres west of Almelo. The cemetery is about 250 metres south of the railway station at the end of the Kirkhofstraat. The British plot is in the north-eastern part.
Wierden General Cemetery contains a plot of 21 Commonwealth burials of the Second World War, all airmen who were shot down in the area from 1942 onwards. The soldiers killed in the neighbourhood during the liberation of Wierden were Canadians, and were taken to the Canadian cemetery at Holton.
