Additionally, the Cemetery entrance is located on a bend. Within the Cemetery there are trip hazards including steps, uneven ground and a boundary wall.

Location information

The cemetery, about 3 kilometres from the city centre, is situated in Commercial Rd, adjacent to the junction with Fitzpatrick Rd. The military plot (11C), with Cross of Sacrifice, is situated to the right of the main avenue distant from the entrance, and there is another group of war graves to the left of the avenue. The other graves are scattered throughout the cemetery.

History information

During the Second World War, the Empire Air Training Scheme operated at No 41 Air School at East London and the local Provincial Hospital included a military wing. There are 11 First World War and 117 Second World War casualties in this cemetery.
