Queensland Cremation Memorial is situated in the war graves plot in Brisbane (Lutwyche) Cemetery, which is in Gympie Road, Kedron, Brisbane.

Historical Information

This memorial commemorates 36 members of the Australian Forces who were cremated, but for whom normal commemoration in a cemetery or crematorium is not possible.

The names are inscribed on a bronze panel beneath an appropriate inscription. This reads:-

1939-1945 THE SERVICEMEN WHO ARE HONOURED HERE DIED IN QUEENSLAND. THEIR REMAINS WERE CREMATED AND THE ASHES SCATTERED OR BURIED WHERE FULL COMMEMORATION COULD NOT BE GIVEN.
