Historical Information

Cronenbourg Cemetery was used during the 1914-1918 War for French and Allied burials (including eight British casualties but mostly Russian and Rumanian soldiers). Further graves were added later from the following cemeteries -

CHATENOIS COMMUNAL CEMETERY (Alsace)
MOLSHEIM COMMUNAL CEMETERY (Alsace)
SCHERWILLER COMMUNAL CEMETERY (Alsace)
VILLE COMMUNAL CEMETERY (Alsace)

There are now 15, 1914-18 and over 10, 1939-45 war casualties commemorated in this site. A special memorial is erected to one British soldier from the 1914-18 War, whose grave cannot be located.
