Historical Note

Special report - historical note Within this cemetery, 29 graves of the First World War were never individually marked. These casualties were instead commemorated by name on Ibadan, Lokoja & Calabar memorials. Work is now underway to see if any of these graves can be restored.

Location information

This cemetery, which belongs to the Lagos Town Council, lies on Ikoyi Road near Broadcasting House, just over 3 kilometres from the town centre. Coming from the Obalende roundabout, the cemetery is on the right. From the main entrance proceed down the path until the first junction. Turn right and continue almost to the end of the path. The graves are scattered over an area on the left and right. The cemetery contains 27 war graves of the 1939-1945 War, scattered among the civilian graves in the cemetery, and 9 burials of the 1914-1918 War.
