Location Information

The Wellington (Karori) Crematorium will be found in Wellington (Karori) Cemetery on Karori Road in the north-western part of Wellington.

The memorial consists of a plaque engraved with the names of 15 casualties from the 1939-1945 War, whose remains were cremated and the ashes scattered. The plaque is set into the Services' brick Columbarium Wall in the Services' section of the cemetery and bears the following inscription:

ON THIS PANEL ARE RECORDED THE NAMES OF THOSE MEMBERS OF THE ARMED FORCES WHO DIED IN THIS DISTRICT WHILST SERVING THEIR COUNTRY IN TIME OF WAR, WHOSE REMAINS WERE CREMATED AND THE ASHES SCATTERED.
