Rededication service for Second Lieutenant Herbert Ernest Martin, 16th Battalion, Cameronians (Scottish Rifles) at CWGC Dadizeele New British Cemetery, Belgium

Rededication service for Second Lieutenant Herbert Ernest Martin, 16th Battalion, attached 1st/8th Battalion Cameronians (Scottish Rifles) will take place at 10.15am (local time) on 19th October 2022 at Dadizeele New British Cemetery, Belgium.

Second Lieutenant Martin, died on the 14th October 1918 whilst serving with 16th Battalion, attached to 1st/8th Battalion, Cameronians (Scottish Rifles). He was previously commemorated on the Tyne Cot Memorial.

CWGC has marked his recently identified grave with a Commission headstone, bearing his name and personal inscription chosen by his family, and will care for it in perpetuity. The service has been organised by the British Ministry of Defence’s Joint Casualty and Compassionate Centre and will be attended by Defence Staff, Regimental representatives, CWGC staff and local dignitaries. Members of the public are welcome to attend.
