Thomas Henry Harman was born in Chilbolton in 1892 - the son of Harry, a coachman, and Elizabeth Harman. The family had moved from there to Langrish and then Buriton by 1901 and were still in the latter ten years later.
In 1912, Thomas married Daisy Karn in the Kingston district of Surrey and their daughter Clara was born there. The family then moved out to Upper Farringdon and son Arthur was born.
Thomas joined the 1st Battalion of the Hampshire Regiment as 3/5316 Private Harman and was sadly killed on 16th May 1915. On 8th January 1916, the Alton Gazette recorded ‘Private Thomas Henry Harman killed in France’ in their ‘Roll of Glory’ for Farringdon. He was awarded the 1914-15 Star and the British War and Victory Medals.
In late 1919, Daisy married local man Frank Truckle and three more daughters were born. Thomas’ parents moved to Brixton Hill in London. Private Thomas Henry Harman was buried in Boulogne Eastern Cemetery in France - Grave VIII. D. 3.
