"...only son of Mr John Morgan, grocer and wine merchant, Perth, passed away at his parents’ residence, 2 Kincarrathie Crescent, Perth, on Saturday evening."

In 1901 the Morgan family were living at Cluna Villa, Isla Road, Kinnoull, Perth: Father, John (Grocer and Wine Merchant) (39); Mother, Annie S. (32); Daughter, Annie S. (10); and Son, Archibald J. (4). Also living at this address was Catherine Steele (General Servant, Domestic) (20).

“PERTH OFFICER WOUNDED"

“Official intimation was received on Wednesday by Mr John Morgan, 2 Kincarrathie Crescent, Perth, that his son, Second Lieutenant Archibald John Morgan, Black Watch, had been slightly wounded. Up to this morning, no further particulars had been received. Lieutenant Morgan received his commission in October last year.”

“OUR OWN MEN - PERTHSHIRE OFFICERS"

“Lieutenant A. J. Morgan, Black Watch, only son of Mr John Morgan, grocer and wine merchant, Perth, passed away at his parents’ residence, 2 Kincarrathie Crescent, Perth, on Saturday evening."

"An old Perth Academy boy, he was prior to enlistment for three years at Dollar Academy, and had been a member of the O.T.C. there, holding the rank of Quartermaster-Sergeant."

"He received his commission in the Black Watch in September 1915, and went to France early in 1916. He was wounded at the Somme, and was invalided home some time ago."

"Keenly interested in all forms of outdoor recreation, he had distinguished himself in cricket, golf and tennis. He was captain of the Dollar Academy first eleven cricket team, and won the Massey Bowling Belt two years in succession."

"During the 1915 session he performed the hat trick against the Glasgow Academy, and received as a memento the ball silver-mounted. In 1914 he won the golf medal, and in 1915 he secured the school tennis championship. Lieutenant Morgan was 21 years of age.”

Archibald Morgan is also commemorated on the Dollar Academy War Memorial; and the Kinnoull Parish Church War Memorial, Perth.
