Also living at this address were: Ann Stewart (General Servant, Domestic) b. 1880, Perth; and Margaret McKillop (Milliner) b. 1876, Laggan, Inverness-shire. Cecil Moir Stewart was born on 5th October 1891.
He enlisted on the 28th February 1916 in Winnipeg, Manitoba.
Before he enlisted Cecil was employed as a Farmer, with his older brother Ewen Miller Stewart. Cecil Stewart married Ella Krueger in Manitoba on 24th May 1916. Perthshire Advertiser, 12th October 1918 “OUR OWN MEN - PERTH CITY “Private Cecil M. Stewart, Canadians (Cameron Highlanders), third son of Mr and Mrs Robert Stewart, 33 Balhousie Street, Perth, has died of wounds.
"After a period of service with Messrs. John A. Stewart & Campbell, solicitors, Perth, he emigrated to Canada about eight years ago, and enlisting at the outbreak of war came over to this country with the Second Canadian Contingent.
"He was severely wounded at the taking of Vimy Ridge in April 1917.
"Private Stewart was greatly esteemed for his many amiable qualities. His elder brother, with whom he was engaged in ranching in Canada before the war, is a Lieutenant in the Cameron Highlanders, while his younger brother is a corporal in the Perth Headquarters Coy. A.S.C., in France.”
At the time of his death Cecil Stewart was 27 years old. Cecil Stewart is also commemorated on the Stonewall, Manitoba War Memorial.
