11440 Private Edmund Revely joined the Army on September 5th 1912. He was 21.

He came from Hartlepool, but was stationed at Whittington Barracks, Lichfield. He moved around the country to train, and finally went out to Armentieres.

I have read from the battalion war diaries, that on the night of 28th October, it was for the 2nd Durhams, one of the worst nights of battle so far. That was the night that he was killed in action. He was just 23.

He left behind an 18 year old wife who was now his widow, and his 2 month old daughter who he never met.

Private Edmund Revely is my great grandad and I'm so proud of him - Deepest respect sir.
