Ernest John Mills ARKELL enlisted 1st October 1914. Private 3514, A Company 1/4th Ox and Bucks Light Infantry, departed overseas 25th June 1915. Killed in action Sunday 23rd July 1916 South West of Pozieres village.
Body found by Canadian burial party 16 May 1919 with Gunner LEWIS, taken to POZIERES for burial plot - 1 G 24.
Family story that he attempted to reach a wounded officer in No-Mans-Land and was killed by a sniper.
