Frederick Holloway was born in Greywell, near Odiham in Hampshire in 1893, his parents were Henry William Holloway and Sarah Jane Ruddick.

In the 1911 census his father Henry is a widower as Sarah Jane had died in 1908 and the family are living in Greywell, Frederick is working as a cowman.

Frederick joined the Hampshire Regiment. In the winter of 1917 he married Daisy Hedges in the church at Rotherwick in Hampshire whilst home on leave and they settled at 26, The Street, Rotherwick.

But he had to return to the Front and died of his wounds at Poperinge in Belgium and is buried at Nine Elms British Cemetery.

He was awarded the DCM and 'mentioned in despatches'

Frederick is remembered on the war memorial in the church in Rotherwick where he was married in 1917.
