Gordon was born in about 1898 in Leicester to Henry a shopkeeper and costume maker and Ada and in 1901 they were living at 3 Sandown Rd, Leicester and by 1911 they were living at Bushby House, Bushby.

He enlisted into the Leicestershire Yeomanry in December 1915 number 41231 and it would appear he also held the number 3698 and saw active service in Palestine; he was called 'George' on his medal card.

He was commissioned into the 21st Lancers on 17th April 1917 and proceeded to France and eventually joined his Regiment in India in October 1918. He died on 15th May 1919 from dysentery and was buried in the Meerut Cantonment Cemetery. 2. 245.
