Location information

The town of Bayeux, in Normandy, lies 24 kilometres north-west of Caen. Bayeux Eastern Cemetery is on the south-eastern outskirts of the town, on the south side of the road to Caen. The Commonwealth graves are in the north-east corner of the cemetery, in Plot 9.

ARRIVAL

The route to the cemetery is signposted, located on the D94A, Route de Caen, on the eastern edge of Bayeux.

PARKING

There are multiple parking spaces at the side of the road on a double width pavement area along the cemetery boundary.

ACCESS LAYOUT AND MAIN ENTRANCE

The cemetery has a tall (over 2 metres) and wide, double black metal gate (approximately 1.80 metres), which is open during cemetery hours. The entrance is immediately east of Saint-Exupere Church, located in the northwest corner of the cemetery.

There are wide (vehicle width), flat and firm tarmac topped paths which follow routes around the cemetery.

The CWGC (Commonwealth War Graves Commission) headstones are approximately 120 metres east of the main entrance, located in a raised kerbed area. The kerbs are approximately 150 – 300 mm high and infilled with loose gravel. There is a non-war headstone near the kerbed plot.

Cemetery opening hours are from 08:00 to 19:00, 7 days a week.
