"We honour and care for the men and women of the Commonwealth forces who died in the First and Second World Wars, ensuring they will never be forgotten"
Caring for our sites
We care for 23,000 war memorials and war cemeteries around the world commemorating 1.7 million Commonwealth casualties. This work covers our distinctive headstones, the buildings and monuments associated with them and the detailed horticultural work to the grounds they stand in.
Our Commemorations team maintains the CWGC casualty database required to commemorate each casualty correctly and working with our recovery teams, researchers and national defence authorities help identify the last resting place of those originally listed as 'missing'
CWGC runs a programme of events, talks and tours, telling the stories of the fallen and the work we do ensuring they are not forgotten. Often these take place at our war cemeteries and memorials. We can also organise large group or school tours. See our current programme of talks and tours.
Our Guides Programme
Every year we station our guides at the Thiepval Memorial and Tyne Cot Cemetery, ready to welcome visitors to these iconic sites. Find out more about our Guides Programme.
